About Me

I'm a University of Cambridge ESOL CELTA, CELTA Online, YL Extension to CELTA, DELTA and TKT Practical Tutor and Assessor with 23 years' experience in 8 different countries and currently based in sunny Sicily! I've worked and lived in Colombia, Italy, Egypt, Spain, Singapore, The UK, Canada and Vietnam. I'm interested in teacher education, integrating technology into ESOL and language assessment. I hold the Cambridge ESOL CELTA, DELTA, a PostGrad in TESOL, an MA TESOL (Merit) from Sheffield Hallam University and an MA in Digital Technologies for Language Teaching with the University of Nottingham (Distinction) - I'm a proud recipient of the UoN Weston Scholarship, and I have now also completed the IH London Diploma in Academic Management and got a Distinction! I am also a speaking examiner and official presenter for various boards.

I speak Spanish, Italian, some French and Portuguese and I'm learning Basque now. I've also worked as a legal translator and interpreter for Ministry of Foreign Relations in Colombia, the Court of Law of Turin in Italy, Oxfam in remote parts of Colombia and as an Interpreter for the Deaf.

I also hold the Trinity College London validated Cert ICT Teaching Languages with Technology (Distinction) and work as a main tutor on this course now; E-Moderation, Moodle Starter and Games in ELT courses Certificates by The Consultants-e.com prior to joining the team as a tutor. Finally, I also hold Promethean IWB Training (Levels 1 and 2), use IWBs at work and I'm always looking for ways to have fun while learning with different devices e.g. iPads, iPhones, iPods, etc!

My favourite phrases are by Confucius: ‘Find a job that you love and you will not have to work one day in your life.’ and Aristotle: 'Excellence is not an accident. It's the result of high expectations, sincere efforts and intelligent execution'.
